Driven by the maturation and increasing professionalization of the crypto sector, traditional financial institutions and the crypto industry are becoming increasingly intertwined. It's no coincidence that two leading companies – Amdax and Deloitte – are joining forces more often. The collaboration symbolizes the maturation of the crypto sector and the growing acceptance and integration of digital assets into the traditional financial sector.
“
Digital assets are here to stay."
"I joined Deloitte five years ago to develop our ambitions in the crypto and blockchain space," Tommie explains enthusiastically. "Since then, we have built a whole team with people from various backgrounds, from cybersecurity to economics and from accountancy to psychology. They all have a strong affinity for crypto and blockchain." Tommie is clear about Deloitte's goal. "We aim to be the go-to party in the crypto industry for running your business responsibly."
When Deloitte began exploring the market, it was still largely unregulated. Dutch crypto companies had to register with the Dutch Central Bank. The DNB oversaw compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Act (Wwft) and compliance with integrity requirements. "We saw added value for Deloitte in this. We have over 175 years of experience in compliance. At Deloitte, we bridge the gap between the traditional financial sector and the newer world of Web3 and blockchain, where parties in the crypto sector are often still searching in terms of compliance," says Tommie.
"Digital assets are here to stay. We see major Dutch banks experimenting with blockchain technology. Additionally, I am closely watching developments such as tokenized stocks. It underscores once again that crypto and the traditional financial world are becoming increasingly intertwined, especially with emerging regulations like MiCAR," says Tommie.
Deloitte likes to collaborate with parties in the crypto sector who share the same values, especially in terms of Responsible Business. Tommie says, "We quickly connected with Amdax. We share a common vision of the market's future and the importance of a professional and reliable business." Amdax and Deloitte have collaborated in various ways.
"One interesting aspect of the technology is the ability to track digital assets via the blockchain from the source to the destination. That's why people with crypto assets are often willing to make crypto donations to charities and NGOs," says Tommie. "This allows donors to see how their donations are used - and how much goes to the charity itself." Non-profit organizations often find it challenging to bridge the gap between the use of digital assets and their integration into existing processes. So, a large NGO approached Deloitte's Web3 team to bridge the old and the new world.

Deloitte extensively researched the possibility of facilitating the receipt of crypto donations. Deloitte then had the received funds for its services paid out in crypto in collaboration with Amdax.
"We wanted to experience for ourselves what it's like to be a client and explore whether it was possible to facilitate crypto payments responsibly and correctly, as it is important for Deloitte to prepare our own organization for the use of digital assets. In line with the objectives of the crypto fund, we were paid out in ETH, where Amdax facilitated this transaction for us."
Amdax, in turn, is also a client of Deloitte. Since Amdax's inception, Deloitte has provided WWFT audits. Additionally, in the preparations for the ISAE-3000 Type 1 Assurance Report, Deloitte has guided and advised Amdax. Various experts have contributed to defining the objectives of the audit, the scope, the control measures to be taken, and improving processes. With its knowledge and experience of the financial sector and the ISAE standards, Deloitte has supported Amdax in further growing its professional and integrity-based operations. The result: an ISAE 3000 Type I statement where Grant Thornton.
